Permanent Archival Collection

NAN has a permanent collection of contemporary (in the sense of this current time) needlework which is now housed at the Gregg Museum of Art and Design at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is an ongoing and growing collection which began when NAN was part of the Valentine Museum.

It contains embroideries that are accessioned by vote of the Board of Directors from the candidates finishing Level II Teachers' Certification, and other embroideries donated to the collection by those who have finished their Honors. There are some additional donations, notably a lace collection given by Mary McMenamin.

A small, changing part of the NAN collection is on display most of the time. You may visit the NAN Collection at the Gallery of Art and Design but call ahead, or consult their Web site to check on their hours of operation.
