View from Anastasia's Window

This was the first piece that Jean taught at a National Seminar, and it proved to be one of the most popular designs she ever created. She designed it in 1985; her research folder for this piece included newspaper clippings, travel folders, and a page that apparently had been torn from a baked goods catalog of some kind, showing much the same scene using gumdrops and hard candy for the various rooftops and spires. (As I've often said, Jean could get inspiration from almost anything!) As you look at the image below, notice the really beautiful job she did of blending different colors into the "sky" portion of the background.
