Lifetime Achievement Award

In 1995, the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Needlearts established its distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award. This is the highest honor bestowed by the Academy, and is only given after careful consideration and deliberation by the Directors. It is awarded to the needleartist who, in the opinion of the Academy, upholds the the highest ideals of the Academy and
  • exemplifies outstanding achievement in more than one aspect of life in the needlearts, with special emphasis on the art of teaching
  • demonstrates the highest caliber of technical excellence in embroidery and in design
  • provides innovative and ongoing service to the needlework community
  • mentors fellow embroiderers, either by example or direct teaching
  • compiles a body of embroidered works which show virtuosity of technique and design
  • continues to grow throughout his/her career
