Beverly Booker

Beverly Booker began her needlework certification process in 1978 at The National Council of American Embroiderers (NSCAE) completing certification in Drawn Fabric/Pulled Thread, Counted Thread Techniques and Design.
Beverly then served as Membership Chairman, Vice President, President and Advisor for NSCAE. She also served as a Counselor and Secretary for the NSCAE Correspondence School for several years.
In 1997 Beverly began her Judges’ Certification at the National Academy of Needlearts (NAN) and then served as Assistant Director of Judges’ Certification and Director of Judges’ Certification.
In 2001 Beverly began her Design Certification at NAN and then served as Assistant Director of Teachers’ Certification and Director of Teachers’ Certification.
Serving as a volunteer in several organizations for 46 years, Beverly retired from her volunteer jobs in 2006 and has been concentrating on learning the stitches and phases of Traditional Japanese Embroidery. At her retirement, Beverly closed HEART DESIGNS after 25 years designing and teaching needlework.
Beverly lived in Mexico City for 6 years and Sao Paulo, Brazil for three years. She was a “corporate wife” for 43 years and traveled the world seeing great sights and meeting people she would never have had the opportunity to meet in her regular walk of life. She also ate some delicacies she would have preferred not eating. Her main job was “show-up, shut-up and smile”.
Beverly,of Plymouth, Michigan, considers her life as “blessed” and has enjoyed her every endeavor all these many years, her family and her three grandsons with abounding love.
