The Sampler by Jennifer Riefenberg

I am constantly experimenting with embroidery and other fiber and mixed media art. Color and design are always in my thoughts as I make decisions on a piece. This collage evolved as I placed shapes and I worked with both loose and sewn threads. Found objects were placed so as to create interest and add repetition for harmony and balance in the composition.

There are about 20 distinct embroidery stitch samples sewn into the collage – thus the Sampler. Sometimes you have to look around to discover all of the stitches. I wish you, the viewer, to experience the energy and flow that makes up the work.
