Snowdrop by Rachel Watkins

The inspiration for this piece came from a child’s fairy book. I painted the ground satin fabric and used stump work and needle lace to create the design. The face and legs are stitched with floss, the needle lace ‘snow cloak’ was stitched in three separate slips and attached to the ground fabric with felt padding beneath. The wired petals and leaves were also stitched as slips and attached later; the under skirt is appliquéd organza with green stitching beneath.
