Secret Garden by Mary Ellen Calderwood

My life grows from a lifelong love of textiles and nature. The images are an integral part of the cloth with is created by experimenting with painting and stamping fabrics, and vintage lace with fabric paints, I placed these pieces along with yarn, thread and cut out shapes of leaves, on soluble fabric before adding hand stitching. This enabled me to realize a dream-like surreal quality of my “Secret Garden”. I enjoy letting go, loosening up, connecting with my creative force. I aim to think in new ways to interpret a feeling of what my mind and heart see. I hope “Secret Garden” will give the viewer a sense of enjoyment and quiet calm.
