Santa Squared by Catherine McEnerny

This Curtis Boehringer painted canvas was originally selected from the ANG auction pieces for its color and for the tree – Christmas trees being a favorite of our household. Happily, I gathered the Needlepoint Inc. silks, the Vineyard Silk, Accentuate, Bijoux, Velour, Hi-Lights, Kid, Pearl Purl, Arctic Rays, Sparkle Rays and Kreinik that I would need to stitch him. When I stumbled across the square beads in a close-out bin, my visions of the piece shifted and I began to focus on the squares found throughout the design. With the use of laid filling stitches, Parisian Stitch, Colonial and French Knots, Brick Stitch and a darning pattern of squares this Santa proves it is cool to be square!
