Jet d'Eau by Joetta Melton

The GKCNG chapter project for 2008-09 is Jim Wurth's dramatic design “Pink Champagne” (photo attached). Jim's tiered Jessicas reminded me of the enormous fountain of water where Lake Geneva empties into the Rhone River in Switzerland. I chose to alter Jim's original color families of pinks and silvers on black to seafoam greens and mocha browns on a gold-flecked eggshell ground. This was a challenge, as the design calls for floss, #5, #8 and #12 perle cottons and accessory fibers in both of the color families. Changes I made included introducing a variegated mocha floss and #5 perle, and substituting Neon Rays for Marlitt, which I chose to either twist or lay, depending on the particular stitch. For example, the padded stitches cupping the Infinite.
