Floating Crane by Diane Horschak

My inspiration for this original embroidery came from a Japanese book of water color pictures from Japan. It is a great white crane floating on water. I think the dyed fabric was perfect for the design and the challenge was using colors that worked with the beautiful dyed fabric. The stitching is all done with Japanese flat silk and metallics and includes all traditional Japanese Embroidery techniques including long and short, laid gold with couching and weft foundation layer.
