Jolly Olde Elf by Debbie Stiehler

This piece was designed as a two day teaching project. I wanted to create a three dimensional work that is totally stitched on congress cloth. Mittens, shoes, hat, face, jacket, pants, and beard are all separate pieces of stitching. After sewing the pieces together they are combined onto a brass rod that is attached to a wooden base.

His arms have a wire armature so that he can be posed or made to hold or carry any embellishments that the student my wish to add. I wanted to create a Santa like no other on the market.
