And the Angels Sing! by Beth Meree
This work contains a sampling of tiny sea related objects which I have collected on my various trips to unusual places around the world: northern and southern hemispheres, Atlantic and Pacific, Japan and the Siberian coastline, Kamchatka, the Galapagos and South America.
For months I studied my self-marbleized canvases and chose this one as representative of underwater feeling. The signature name is portrayed by the angel wings (massed in the leaf shape on the upper right side of the canvas) culled from assorted sand dollars collected off of South Carolina. The similar sea stars were found in both the northern and southern hemispheres. Shell types are quire universal and come in all sizes. Normally I design a souvenir memory for a single trip, but this large and varied collection called for a composite of many expeditions.
Beside the found objects, I have used beads and flosses in both silk and cotton as well as fine stranded Medici yarn.
