Woman by Jennifer Riefenberg

I live in the West and there is a winter wheat field to the north of my house. In early morning and early evening light, the deep rays of the sun shine across the golden grains - rendering them the beautiful amber declared in song, "America the Beautiful". I am constantly trying to capture the beauty of the deep yellow waves, set against the violet blue skies. This scene forms the landscape for this design.

Through time, the metaphor of the "Tree of Life" appears in many forms and facets. In this piece, the woman stands as the tree - nurturer, grower of food and bearer of life. She represents all women of the earth and our relationship with healing and giving. She is also representative of strength and sturdiness and peace. With this work, I hope that the viewer finds their own relationship with "Woman".
