Pansies in Bloom by Joyce Feucht

In Ohio the first flowers planted in gardens, even prior to the last frost, are pansies. These "happy faces" have always inspired me with their variety in shades and rich colors and led me to execute this miniature grouping. This original design is a result of my love of nature, especially flowers, and my experience in stumpwork that is self taught.

Fibers and colors were selected of cotton floss and silk on brass wires and wooden beads. Stitches include: bullion knots, French knots, long and short, satin, stem, straight, buttonhole and buttonhole couching, detached chain, overcast, and couching. Embellishments are pearls and beads. The ground fabric is satin. The most difficult aspect was wrapping the tiny wooden beads to form the berries.
