Anasazi Song by Toni Gerdes

This piece reminded me of a beautiful Native American rug which is why I had it made into a box, so that you would look down on it like a rug. The threads in this piece remind me of the colors of the southwest.

The designer states that “the deep canyons, rock palisades, high mesas, and open desert of the Four Corners area were home to a remarkable group of agricultural people we today refer to as the Anasazi – the ancient ones.” She states that “this song in stitches celebrates their lives, their world and traces they have left for us.”
