Mister A. T. Tude by Sue Dulle
The Holiday Bear (a.k.a. Mister A.T. Tude) is a canvas designed and painted by
Joan Lewis, Overland Park, KS.
He is third in line from an illustrious family of stitched bears. The first bear, "K.C." is at home in the Kansas City Miniature Museum; Kansas City, MO. He was stitched and donated to the museum by several members of the Greater Kansas City Needlepoint Guild. The second bear, name unknown, was also stitched by various member of the Greater KC Needlepoint Guild and donated to the ANG National Seminar auction in 2004. He now resides in Arizona.
Mister A.T. Tude is the first of the bears to have a pedigree and papers (stitch guide). I was asked by Joan Lewis to prepare the stitch guide for a bear and his future generations. Mrs. Lewis had suggested for "K.C." the color, thread and stitch for the background and so I chose to adhere to the lineage of the bear’s heredity. As I began choosing the stitches and threads for this project, Mister A.T. Tude took on his own personality. By the end of the project, the bear had an attitude! This attitude was confirmed by the finisher when she called to say he was completed, "the bear is finished and he does have an attitude".
Hence, my name for the Holiday Bear...Mister A.T. Tude. No other name seemed quite fitting!
