Mimi's Brag Book by Judi DiCarlo

I had taken a class at Callaway Gardens given by Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn. Four days of learning different stitches and techniques and backgrounds to use in creative stitching. The next four days were spent designing our own unique books. The Book of Stitches is on display.

I started with a navy blue light weight burlap fabric and used Wonder-Under on top that I hand painted. I applied gold foil in different areas and then different weight threads, rolled painted Wonder-Under, gold ribbon, netting, ribbons and beads. The back cover is just the fabric with Wonder Under.

Stitches that were used were Varieties of Couching, Sorbello Stitch, Cross-Stitch Variations, Fly Stitch and Locked Stitch.

This was my first attempt at this type of needleart and I found the class to be very enlightening and stimulating. I would love another class with them. It was challenging "to get out of my box"!!
