From Molehill to Mountain by Linda Beane

This piece was designed and taught by Pamela H. Gardner as a year-long project for the Dallas Needlework & Textile Guild, a chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America. I was fortunate to participate in what has since become the pilot class for this now published work. We were encouraged to choose our own color scheme based on a choice of an over-dyed thread. I chose Silk "N" Colors’ Brazilian Boa. I then chose 3 colors within the over-dyed to use as my main color (purple), my secondary color (yellow-orange) and may accent color (pink). I selected 3 values of each color and all of mine are DMC floss. I chose Kreinik metallic in my accent color to be used in the sashing and border. I chose not to use metallic in the individual blocks as the instructions called for its use in some and not in others. After completing this piece, I have a new application for cotton floss!
