Strawberry Sampler by Corrine Jones

This sampler was a gift to my mother for her 85th birthday (February 18). (I have borrowed it.) As far back to my childhood as I can remember, mother has picked strawberries, most from her own patch. She taught me how to plant a patch when I was in my early teens and since a patch is to be picked every other day, we would arrive early in the morning picking her patch together one day and mine the next. I sold my heaping quart boxes to neighbors for 50 cents thus earning my own money for camp.

We ate strawberries three times a day and mother made delicious jam that we enjoyed in the winter.

Last summer mother still went to a patch for picking and gave us jam for Christmas.
