Queen of Needlework by Debbie Stiehler

I like to design and stitch things that no one has done. Although the finished piece is whimsical in nature, the stitching is serious. The crown is stitched on 18 count red mono weave canvas using metallic threads, rayon and wool. Stitches include a Florentine pattern, herringbone and reverse herringbone, turkey work, and beading. A simple Temari ball accents the top of the crown. Satin fabric provides an elegant touch to the crown and helps to hide the back of the canvas stitches.

The purpose of this piece is to create a smile on the faces of the people who view the design.
