Norwegian Couple by Bev Grace

My husband Tom and my Norwegian/Minnesotan heritage was the inspiration for this original, also incorporating our Sealyham Terrier, Hattie, on the floor.

Norway’s "bunads" or folk costumes are marvelous so I jumped right in thinking I could really do this.

It was a divine challenge!

Before I hung the hardanger wall hanging, I put a small wreath on the wall, photographed it for our 2003 Christmas card.

The rosemauling on the chest was a technique I had learned to do in paint and I transposed into thread.

The fjord outside the window was stitched from a photograph my friend, Ella, had taken in Norway.
