Corinthian Column by Rachel Watkins

This seminar piece is stitched on a black satin ground and utilizes almost all types of Gold Work threads currently available. The columns are padded with cords, wool and felt: these were appliquéd to the ground fabric to proved a dimensional base for the gold. The Acanthus leaf tips are stitched separately and attached to complete the three dimensional effect.
