Net Fishing by Priscilla Brant

The subject of this piece compelled me to combine painting and stitching. These are the two media that I work in and there has been a compelling desire to combine these together in one piece.

Inspired by the play of light on the fish scale lead to the use of Opalescence and then the reflection of the glasses of the fisherman demanded the use of a gold blending filament. The use of detached knotted buttonhole allowed the arranging of the folds of the work to show the folds of the net as it’s being pulled out of the water.
