Dominoes and Squares by Toni Gerdes

This was an ANG Workshop by Mail Project. I varied from the original by using Splendor Silk rather than Soie d’Alger.

The piece was worked on Eggshell 18-count canvas. I used the following Filling techniques: A multiple Trellis over a gobelin pattern foundation, Pattern Couching over a padding of cord, Diagonal Variation of Traditional Burden Stitch, and Two adaptations of traditional Japanese forms of novel patterning.

Threads used were: Splendor Silk #S800, Kreinik’s Gold Braid #16 (medium #002J), Gold Braid #8 (fine #002J), Gold Braid #4 (very fine #002J), Gold Ribbon 1/8" (#002J), and Japan Gold Threads #1 (002J).
