Needlework by Jessie Weldon

This was a painted canvas by Danji. It was a challenge piece from a needlepoint shop. We were encouraged to interpret it and make any changes we wished as long as we kept the basic design. Therefore, I made numerous changes such as having the girl facing forward with a long dress rather than a profile position with a regular dress.

Various stitches were used in the letters: bullion, slanted gobelin, cross, straight, chain, colonial knot, mock buttonhole, and basketweave.

Threads used were cotton floss, silk, rayon, wool, and cotton perle.  Attachments were scissors, ribbons, yarn balls, beads, and a frame for her needlepoint.
