This piece was a serendipitious outcome from a class in "Watercolor and Needlelace." After I had painted several color variations, using aquarelle crayons, I found that I had a variegated #8 Perle thread with the right mix of colors to go with this painted background. Just to see what it looked like I worked some needlelace over part of it. My three-year-old granddaughter Alyssa took one look at it and said "Grandma, you made rainbows!" So of course I had to continue, fudging the colors a little so that they fell in the best places for the rainbows.
