An Emily Dickinson poem inspired this peyote self-supported ‘well,’ intended to convey the dichotomy of nature, a familiar friend or a fearsome unknown. Her six-stanza poem begins:

"What mystery pervades a well, that water lives so far -- A neighbor from another world residing in a jar."
