music_3.jpg (10060 bytes)Music by Ayelet Lindenstrauss Larsen of Bloomington, Indiana

When I started this piece, it was about individual notes of music: round, rich sounds with overtones which I tried to capture by brilliant little dots. As I was working it, I realized that I was thinking a lot about how these notes resonate inside me when I am really listening to them. And at that point I wanted to express another aspect of listening: being enveloped by the effect which all the notes produce together. The piece then grew from the rectangle on its upper left into its current dimensions, incorporating the listener as well as her music.
