bugseyev_3.jpg (10563 bytes)Bug’s Eye View by Dorothy L. Johnson of Aiken, South Carolina

This piece started with a dyed canvas, then painted with specific shapes indicating nature’s forest floor with sunlight playing through the foliage. Once the forms became clear, defining stitches outlined the various leaves and vines. When the background was expressed the forest floor could take shape. It was fun working with casting sunrays onto the flowers and plants, each becoming an important color focus for the viewer.
