Bubblesv_3.jpg (7428 bytes)Bubbles – Double, Double, Toil & Bubble by Sondra Gregory of Prairie Village, Kansas

This painted canvas by Sandy Jenkins did not come with a stitch guide – all stitches and threads and color ideas were my own. I used a wide variety of threads: Anchor Cotton Floss, Kreinik Braid, Supertwist, Rachlette, Anchor Pearl Cotton, Ribbon Floss, Tiara, French Wool Overdayed, Charleston and Overdyed Floss.

I chose Multi-Colored glass beads to interpret the bubbles giving the impression of "tiny bubbles" within larger ones. Overdyed floss was utilized in a smooth-sided web stitch for the logs. The chain stitch around the cauldron was executed in an irregular manner to better depict an old, old cauldron.

I deliberately did not "lay in" the thread for the face, hand and frog areas in order to show a little texture. – Bubbles is a witch who doesn’t take very good care of her skin!
