‘A Bed for a Beauty’ was inspired by a stained glass panel. Each level is worked in a different weight of thread. The back level is worked with Floss; the second level is worked with #8 Pearl Cotton; and the third layer is #5 Pearl Cotton. Each area has a touch of gold; this created a depth to the piece. The background is a darning pattern which gives it texture. The piece didn’t come together until the stone was placed on top and it was set in the irregular shaped mat with matching frame.
