Trace the black lines in the line drawing below onto the fabric using a very fine permanent marker or a #4 hard pencil. Do NOT trace the gray lines!!!

Branches

Some sample branches are shown by gray lines on the line drawing. You may want to sketch some branches to get you started. If you do this, use a purple ink AIR-DISAPPEARING pen. The branches overlap each other and are randomly placed. See the photo for ideas. Stitch the branches with Split Backstitches. Use 2 strands of Overdyed Floss #142.

Ground Line

The horizontal line that indicates the ground is also worked in Split Backstitch. You may use the same Overdyed Floss or a contracting green embroidery floss from your stash.

Oval Outline

Use 2 strands of embroidery floss that matches your fabric to outline the edge of the ornament in Outline or Stem Stitch.

See the finishing instructions to complete the ornament.
