There
is no shape template for this ornament. Find the center of your canvas.
The picture at right shows where the center rectangle meets the upper right
corner.
Center Rectangle
From center, count up 17 threads and over 4 threads. Begin stitching the
Elongated Cashmere Stitch using one strand of Ribbon Floss. The center rectangle
contains 6 rows of 6 stitch motifs (see photograph at top of page).

Center Rectangle Border
Use 4 strands of DMC 6-Strand Embroidery Thread #913 (#22 tapestry needle) to
stitch a border of Reverse Scotch Stitches which surrounds the cashmere
stitches.

Surrounding Squares/Rectangles
Continue working the Reverse Scotch Stitch using Kreinik Metallic Braid Color
# 008HL to form squares at the top and bottom of the center rectangle and
rectangles on each side of the center rectangle. Each section contains 6 rows.
In the squares, each row contains 6 Scotch motifs. In the rectangles, each row
contains 12 Scotch motifs.
Corners
Stitch 3 rows of diagonal stitch as shown in the diagram. The direction of
the stitches alternates in each corner. Use 4 strands of DMC 6-Strand Embroidery
Thread #911.
