You may substitute DMC Pearl Cotton, Paternayan wool (in a sapphire blue color), or Neon Rays.
  • Kreinik Metallic Braid Size 8 - Color # 051HL
  • 2 #24 tapestry needles
  • Refer to Finishing Instructions for materials needed for finishing the ornament.

Trace the ogee-shaped template onto the canvas and mount the canvas on stretcher bars as explained in the General Instructions.

  1. Use Kreinik 1/16" ribbon to work the Burden Stitch variation in the inner shape area. Begin stitching at the center top (use an away knot to begin the thread length). The first stitch is a long vertical stitch that extends from the top to the bottom of the inner shape. Be sure that the metallic ribbon is laying flat; not twisted at all. These long vertical stitches are labeled A, B, C... on the stitch diagram.
  2. Thread the second needle with Size 8 Kreinik Metallic Braid. Starting with a forward waste knot, work tie-down stitches over the long metallic ribbon stitch. These stitches are labeled 1, 2, 3... in the stitch diagram. Cut off the waste knot when you reach it.
  3. Continue the stitching sequence to complete one half of the inner shape. Turn the canvas upside down to work the second half of the shape.

  4. Brick Stitch - outer edge of ornament. Use 1 strand of Impressions to fill in the space between the inner shape and the outer edge. Compensate as needed. IF YOU PLAN TO MAKE A TWISTED CORD OF IMPRESSIONS FOR FINISHING THE ORNAMENT, DO NOT CUT THROUGH THE SKEIN. INSTEAD, CUT THROUGH THE KNOT AND GENTLY UNWRAP AND CUT A SUITABLE STITCHING LENGTH.

  6. Finish the ornament according to the Finishing Instructions. If you are using the Impressions to make a twisted cord, you will need 4 52" lengths for the cording.
