Dolores Andrew is an artist and designer who creates work in a variety of media in the needleart and fine art discipline, often depicting the same subject in each discipline. Dolores is NAN certified in teaching and judging (Master Judge), was Director of Judges’ Certification for six years, and has completed Honors. She holds both a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts. Dolores has written and illustrated three books on textile subjects andis represented by several galleries. Her art work has been accepted in juried exhibitions throughout the United States
Dawn Donnelly is enrolled in the Teacher cum Laude program and has LEvel II certification in canvaswork (NAN). She has taught nationally and locally for the American Needlepoint Guild (ANG) and Embroiderers' Guild of America (EGA). She is currently the Vice President in charge of programs for ANG's Needlepoint by Night Chapter and a Teacher Certification Counselor (NAN). She enjoys designing and stitching in several mediums using a wide variety of threads and techniques.
Toni Gerdes holds Level II certification in Canvaswork from NAN. She is a member of NAN, ANG, EGA, and NETA and has served as VP/Program Chair of the Great Kansas City Needlepoint Guild. She has received numerous awards for her work, including original designs. Toni has taught for the National Academy of Needlearts and locally for both guild meetings and shops. She enjoys all types of stitching and especially enjoys sharing her knowledge with others. She currently resides in Colorado.
beve s. handwerger is a Level II NAN Teachers’ Certification graduate in Explorative Creative Contemporary Embroidery, NAN certified Exhibit Administrator’s Associate, and a NAN Teacher Cum Laude graduate. She is also a juried member of Fiber Forum. She has taught at NAN, Regional EGA Seminars, EGA and ANG correspondence courses, for her chapter, and at home. beve has had two one-artist shows in Annapolis, MD, and received an Honorary Mention at the MFA Gallery in Annapolis.
Catherine Jordan is a certified Master Craftsman in the Counted Thread, Crewel, and Color programs from the Embroiderer’s Guild of America and the past president of the Virginia Guild of Needlewomen in Richmond, Virginia. She is the current President for the EGA Gentle Pursuits of Richmond chapter. She is a juried member of EGA’s artists’ group, Fiber Forum, and raises cashmere goats for hand spinning, felting, and dyeing. Catherine teaches at local needlework chapters and regional and national seminars. Her work can be seen at www.CatherinesDesigns.net.
Carole Lake, from Austin, Texas, is an EGA Certified Teacher who specializes in manipulating common and uncommon threads and stitch to create textured effects, with a special interest in the effect and symbolism of color. Her award-winning work has been displayed in exhibits throughout the southwest. She has been actively teaching and designing for over 20 years. A native Texan and graduate of Rice University, her enthusiasm for the needlearts has translated into a strong desire to exchange ideas, explore techniques, and share the love of stitching.
Shay Pendray, certified in canvaswork by the Embroiderers’ Guild of Amrica, is a teacher, lecturer, designer, host of a PBS TV show, “Needle Arts Studio”, owner of a production company and manufactures and distributes needlework products. Shay has studied Japanese Embroidery extensively, having studied with four different Sensi (teacher) in Japan and with Kiju Funkuda, Living National Treasure of Japanese Embroidery in Japan. She has authored four books and is the recipient of many awards including TNNA’s TEN Award, NAN’s “Lifetime Achievement Award”, DMC Teacher of the Year, and the ANG Literary Award.
Jennifer Riefenberg is a Level II NAN graduate. She has taught many programs for ANG and EGA and teaches classes at TACtile, the Textile Arts Center. Jennifer is also a juried member of local fine arts guilds and displays her work in galleries in the Denver area. She is an excellent photographer in many areas, but especially in the needlearts. She loves to share her love of the needlearts with her students as they gain confidence and skills.
Marnie Ritter has taught needle art for over thirty years at national and regional seminars for ANG, EGA, Callaway Gardens, Kent State University, NAN, as well as guilds and shops. Marnie’s forte is to continuously discover new and innovative techniques that combine many facets of needleart. She holds certification in Surface Stitchery from The Council of Embroiderers as well as experience judging, television and publishing. She is a juried member of EGA’s Fiber Forum and has served as president of her local EGA chapter. In 2006 she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Needlearts.
Michele Roberts specializes in historical research, goldwork, stumpwork and ecclesiastical designs. Michele holds Senior Master Teacher credentials from ANG, Royal School of Needlework Certification with Distinction in embroidery techniques, and Cities and Guilds Certification in Stumpwork at the Embroiderer’s Guild at Hampton Court Palace. She has taught at many national seminars, is the author of several ooks and correspondence courses, and has been featured in several needlework magazines. She is a juried member of EGA’s Fiber Forum.
Gail Sirna, who holds certification from NAN, is a longtime embroiderer, needlework teacher and judge, and regular columnist for Needle point Now. She has taught extensively for over 30 years throughout North America for ANG, EGA, EAC, Callaway and NAN. She has also judged numerous exhibits, and has exhibited widely across the country, winning many ribbons. In 2004, She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Needlearts. Gail has recently written a book entitled In Praise of the Needlewoman.
Caela Conn Tyler holds certification from the National Academy of Needlearts. She has taught in Canada and throughout the United States including national seminars for ANG, EGA, CAE, Callaway, NAN, and TNNA. Several of her designs have won awards in judged and juried shows. She received NAN’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. Caela currently serves as NAN’s Director of Teachers’ Certification. She works in several media, particularly in garment design and embellishment
